Below are some of my favorite tools and resources. These are the things I use every week in my business, pay for out of my own pocket, and highly recommend.
Beehiiv: I’ve written before about the different tools you need to run a newsletter. When it comes to email platforms, the reality is that if you’re sending fewer than ~100k emails a day, it doesn’t really matter what you choose. That said, I’ve tried several, and Beehiiv is by far my favorite. It’s made by the same engineers who built Morning Brew, so they know what newsletter operators really need to be successful. They’re also obsessive about talking to users, and ship new features fast.
Descript: If you interview people for a living, Descript is fantastic. It’ll transcribe audio super fast, and you can even edit the audio by editing the text on the page. Great for podcasts, but also great for writers who need to refer back to interview notes often.
Stripe Atlas: If you need to incorporate a new business, Atlas is definitely a great option. The process is quick, and it ties directly into Stripe, so you’ve got a built-in way to charge clients out of the gate. They can even help get you a mailing address for your company, even if you don’t have a physical location. This was recommended to me by several members at Hampton, and it’s excellent.
Mercury Bank: This is the bank I use for my business. It’s easy to set up online.
