Hey, welcome to my site!

My name’s Ethan, and back in 2019, I quit my tech job to figure out how to make a living doing what I love (writing).

At the time, I was worried that I’d never eat again. And honestly, I should have been! It was only by getting very, very lucky that I found my way into exactly the kind of work I was hoping for.

But I did get lucky, and was hired to write for a company called The Hustle. We did email newsletters about tech and business, and I spent years there learning the trade.

While there, one of my key projects was to write a book all about how multi-million dollar newsletters work, so I had the opportunity to talk to people all over the industry and learn how they do what they do too.

After The Hustle, I helped launch a private peer group for high-growth founders called Hampton. I also co-hosted the CopyBlogger podcast for two years, which grew to ~10k downloads per episode (placing it among the top 1% of podcasts out there)

Then, I continued following my passion, launching a new business newsletter for the city of Austin, Texas – The Austin Business Review.

Through it all, I’ve continued studying how people make a living from their writing. And this site is where I publish what I learn.

I basically talk about three things:
